When the news of how powerful the new Moto e4 lineup was going to be hit the internet, many people scoffed and said that the price would have to increase or they were going to have to cut features to make it work. Instead of any of that happening, Motorola just delivered a great phone at an even better price. The Moto e4, priced at $129.99 unlocked, is the perfect starter device or phone for the lighter user. Running the Qualcomm 425 series processor, the Moto e4 easily makes it through the day with it’s 2800 mAh battery. The 5” HD display is perfect for watching media and stores easily in just about any pocket or purse. While the 2GB of RAM is a bit light in this day and age, it once again positions this device for the more casual user. The one spec which we really could have wished for more in, is the internal storage. At just 16GB, the Moto e4 will fill up pretty quickly with Apps and games, so keep track of them carefully. Media lovers will have no worries though, the included micro SD card slot will allow for easy expansion for extra movies and music without using any of the internal storage.
The rest of the specs are far from what you might expect to find in a sub $150 handset. The Moto e4 ships fully unlocked and is network compatible with Verizon Wireless, Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile’s services. The e4 is also equipped with fingerprint sensor security, Android 7.1 and a fully laminated 2.5D front glass. While it’s not touted as waterproof, the water-repellant coating should help keep it safe from any drizzle or wet conditions outdoors, we just wouldn’t take it swimming or shower with it. The only real omission from the full spec list that we found interesting is the lack of NFC, for using things like Android Pay or tap to share. Not a deal breaker by any means, but rather shocking to see it not listed. Of course, the one thing that we love to see that the Moto e4 brings back into play is the removable battery. The 2800 mAh battery should easily be enough to power through the day, but if you are ever somewhere without charging capabilities, you can carry a spare battery or two with you as soon as they are available.
