Capture Life On The Go Without Tying Up Your Phone With The RE

Mobile photography and videography is a booming business to cellular companies. When HTC released the RE Camera late in 2014, it was really putting other cellular companies on notice that they had some great stuff coming in the pipeline. When using the RE in combination with your HTC One device (or any other Android or iOS device for that matter) you could have a very strong 16MP shooter and 1080p video cam in your hand without sacrificing battery or phone storage. The best part wasn’t in the quality or the phone saving features, it was in the amazing design of the RE itself.

The RE is small, but not too small. It fits easily in one hand, can shoot video or images via a remote app from your device and even has some built in features to keep it interesting without a device. First off the grip sensor is probably the highlight of the ease of the RE. There’s no on or off switch. You pick it up and it turns on. It’s that simple. Then you have control via the dual button setup – video or stills. Once you start it up, you are ready to roll.

As far as the tech specs go, the RE has a 146 degree wide-angle lens that captures a huge space. While not a killer for zooming, the amount of data to choose from is pretty amazing. The 16MP sensor will easily print a 24x36 post with very little break down in quality. The 1080p video is smooth and vibrant.  Pair the RE Camera with a 64GB or 128GB SanDisk memory card and you will be a happy shooter for just about any occasion.

Overall, the RE is a great addition to anyone’s cellular photography arsenal. By surviving the initial run on the RE, you have saved yourself about $70 on the retail price. The RE can currently be snagged for about $130 depending on color choice, but the fact that you can snag a waterproof 16MP/1080p video system for under $150 is simply stunning. If you are looking for the perfect compliment to your not-quite-so-good cellular camera, check out the RE today.
