Wow, what an epic look into the quality of coverage that Solavei offers. Yes, directly from their Mobile Service Section of their support threads is this excerpt:
WiFi Calling Alternatives: Solavei does not support WiFi calling. These applications allow you to communicate with friends and family using Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) a technology that allows phone calls to be made over the Internet.
- Google Voice app supports free unlimited WiFi calling over a data connection.
- Skype offers free video chat on Wi-Fi to other Skype users, voice calls to mobile and landline members, text messaging and voicemail, available for a low cost while on Wi-Fi.
- Tango offers free Video, Voice, Text and Picture Messaging on WiFi with other Tango users.
- Note: Always read the application reviews and requirements prior to downloading a third-party applicable. In some cases the application may require additional steps to install and begin use.
That’s correct. Solavei is stating that their coverage is so poor in some locations that you may need Wi-Fi Calling, like their parent network T-Mobile offers for free. Unfortunately, going through a 3rd party MVNO like this means you lose a ton of add-on features. Wi-Fi Calling isn’t the only one you lose on this deal. Still missing are those LTE speeds that virtually every other T-Mobile MVNO is offering now and short code SMS, that even carriers like Republic Wireless have brought on board.
For now, if you still think trying to make a quick buck on your cell plan is a better move than having the coverage that you need, by all means, stick with Solavei. If you’ve decided that now is the time to get better coverage for less money, visit some of the fantastic options at www.4gfastdata.com. These include unlimited plans from Ptel Mobile, Red Pocket Mobile and GIV Mobile that will use your same phone or new plans from Boost Mobile or Republic Wireless that start from $5 a month for Wi-Fi calling plans.
