If there is one thing that will kill a provider faster than price increases, it would be not offering services that others are offering for less money. Since the beginning of 2013, Solavei’s user forums have been in a spiral of negativity and misinformation. Instead of taking the normal bashing line on this one, I want to actually try and help a few of the users that are involved in these topics and give them some actual assistance instead of the Solavei-Song-And-Dance…
When will 4G LTE be offered? – from 4G LTE and LTE IS A MUST AS OF RIGHT NOW
- The simple answer to this is not until after September. Solavei signed a two year agreement with T-Mobile for services. This agreement is due to be renegotiated in September of 2014. This would be the first logical time that the topic of LTE would come up. Since T-Mobile did not have an LTE network when the first agreement was signed, there was no reason to address it at that time. The MVNO’s that have added it since have had their contracts redone already.
Will Solavei allow short code SMS in the future? – from short codes and Can't text short codes!
- Again, this is all due to carrier billing procedures. My bet is that Solavei didn’t build in a line for T-Mobile to charge the premium SMS fees to, which is why Solavei doesn’t offer any SC SMS features. The other option is that Solavei didn’t want to be placed on the hook for the charges and just didn’t extend the offer to their users. I’m more inclined to think it’s option one though, which again, might change in the September negotiations.
Does Solavei offer a way to boost signal strength indoors? – from Microcell (FemToCell) and signal booster device available-
- This is actually a great question, but the answer is no. Solavei does not offer a way to boost indoor signals because they are only a service provider. Solutions offered up included buying a T-Mobile device that runs almost $500 without T-Mobile service and trying to use a Wi-Fi calling option like Skype, Viber or similar. A much easier and less costly option is to grab a zBoost YX545 Range Extender for around $200. This will boost your indoor signal strength 30-70% and increase your data speeds as well. A simple solution that is no bigger than a small router. This also does not hook to your internet or route calls over the internet. This is a simple signal booster that can be mounted indoors or outside.
So hopefully those three quick answers will help with some of the frustrations you have. If you aren’t happy with the answers, then make sure you call Solavei and let them know. If you don’t like their answers, make the move and visit www.4gfastdata.com for a free Spot Mobile or Simple Mobile SIM and a lower bill. Sure, they don’t offer the compensation that Solavei does, but a $20-30 a month savings is money in the bank. Also, if you are thinking you want to use your device on the native T-Mobile network, there are quite a few new features that the Uncarrier is offering now! Visit www.tmobile.com for the latest news.
