I Had T-Mobile…

I have to admit that this statement drives me insane. How do you battle such a rough “Anti-Sale” line as, “I had it and it didn’t work for me.”? It’s actually not as tough as you think, if you approach it correctly. Overcoming objections to the quality of service is never easy, and no matter how hard we try, it may not be possible to win everyone’s confidence.

Coverage: I had T-Mobile before and the coverage was poor.

Of course, the easy answer is a simple, the coverage is much better than it used to be as T-Mobile is in the process of spending billions of dollars updating and upgrading their network. An even easier answer is, this isn’t the same network that it was 2 years ago. the 1900MHz rollout has increased data capacity and availability. If you live in a major market, we could say one with professional sports teams, you will have good coverage. Remember, the bands that T-Mobile uses for voice aren’t as aggressive for indoor coverage, so signal quality may not be as good inside buildings, but if the expectations are set lower,

Cost: I had T-Mobile but it was more expensive than “blank”.

I haven’t encountered many people that have said this one, but it does happen. T-Mobile used to sell plans that were $49 a month. They called it the Value Plan. It was $49 and included unlimited talk, text and 2GB of 4G data. Then they bought a phone for $99 down and were charged an additional $20 a month in “financing” for the phone. It was the first ‘deal’ that T-Mobile ran on discounted plans. What happened was the user’s $49 bill turned in to $60 with taxes, then another $20 for the phone and a total of $85 a month for that single line. It was much higher than the $49 quote.

This is where I try and preach total transparency in the Solavei system. The bill won’t be $49, it will be $59.30 in the Seattle area. Be honest and straight forward with anyone that asks about pricing, it will save you an angry member later. Also, stress the phone cost to people. You can pick up a great Blu device or SVP feature phone for $35-350 that will work great in the areas that T-Mobile has completed their 1900MHz rollout. If you don’t know if your area has it completed, go pickup a $100 non-AWS phone and see what speeds you get. This will tell you what people can expect on lower cost handsets and those unlocked AT&T devices.

No Contract: I hated being stuck in a two year contract!

Nothing sells faster than not being stuck in a horrible termed, 2 year contract. You can come and go as you please without any threats of extra fees or inability to port your number to another carrier. For those that object to those commitments, just explain that even though T-Mobile’s new Simple Choice plans are non-contract, Solavei offers more for less. $49 gets you unlimited talk, text and 4GB of 4G data on Solavei. That’s per line, not a shared amount. Look at the chart below on what this would cost a family of 5 for the same T-Mobile coverage.

T-Mobile Simple Choice Solavei
$50 1st line + $30 2nd + $10 for 3-5 $49 per line (x5)
Unlimited Minutes and Text/MMS Unlimited Minutes and Text/MMS
500MB 4G Data 4GB 4G Data
+ $30 per line for 5GB data
Total = $260 before taxes

Net cost $314.60 per month after taxes
Total = $245 before taxes
Plus 1 PC1 Trio and 1 PC2 Trio (-$30)

Net cost $266.45 per month after taxes

If that $50 a month savings isn’t enough to convince people, make sure they know that it equals up to $600 a year back in their pocket. Then you can look at the fact that with just two more members, they would make an additional $30 a month bringing that ‘savings’ up to $960 a year or almost $2000 over that ‘24 months’ that their old contracted services lasted. That’s quite a savings!
