Windows Phone On Solavei

There is quite a bit of confusion regarding the use of a Windows Phone device on Solavei, so we are here to clear it up. First off, yes, Windows Phones work great on Solavei, but with that said, depending on the device, there will be limitations.

Looking at the larger picture of Windows Phones, most of the devices on the market in the US are made for AT&T's network settings. Devices like the HTC Titan, Samsung Focus and Focus 2 will work on the network, but will not have the proper radios to ensure anything over 2G coverage. T-Mobile, the network that Solavei uses, has a posted 2G speed of 50kbps. This is about the same as that old dial-up modem that your computer had 10+ years ago. There is a rollout of thr 1900mhz frequency that is changing this is some markets, but it is a slow process and outlying areas will probably not see the increased speeds.

With T-Mobile having a few Windows Phone offerings, we can take a look at those as well. The HTC Radar 4G is a T-Mobile device that works great on the T-Mobile network, but due to limitations in the APN editors from HTC, you can only select one APN to adjust. This means you have the choice of using picture messaging or the MSN features and Marketplace. You don't get both at the same time.

The one WP that does shine is the Nokia Lumia 710 which can be had for $200-250 on the T-Mobile Monthly 4G prepaid package. The Nokia Network Setup App allows for multiple adjustments which will allow all features of thr device to work properly. We are in the process of laying out a PDF file of the settings when we can get them confirmed, but we do not have all the configuration information yet.

Needless to say, if you are a Windows Phone fan, there is help on Solavei for cutting that bill and saving some cash. Check out the Lumia 710 for the best experience on your new Solavei SIM card.
