If you are dealing with a Verizon Wireless or AT&T customer, you might have a major opportunity to help them find a new carrier due to changes in policies with those two carriers. If they are working with any of the major MVNO or prepaid carriers, there is another opportunity there as well. Most of the major carriers are now requiring users to 'upgrade' to a shared data or a limited data plan. Even the prepaid "Unlimited" plans are coming under fire as they are not truly unlimited options.
When looking at the most popular plans, Verizon now caps individual users at 2GB of data for $30 and a family can pay $50 to share 1GB of data and $10 a month extra per 2GB of bandwidth. AT&T has similar pricing in place for their users as well. Only Sprint and T-Mobile have truly 'unlimited' options available for their users, but both can cost upwards of $100-120 a month after taxes and surcharges are added to the base prices.
Straight Talk is one of the fastest growing MVNO's on the market today with their $45 unlimited everything plan, but there are limits to their unlimited. They offer 100MB a day or 2GB per month of unlimited data. After that, your account may be throttled, suspended or cancelled completely. Net10 is another popular plan at $50 a month for unlimited everything, as long as you don't leave your home calling area. Even Simple Mobile's unlimited offerings are leaving users in a lurch as their unlimited data plan may include as little as 1GB before warnings and throttling occurs.
So, how does one take a small crack like these and use the Solavei plan to show these types of users that there is a better plan for them out there? It's rather simple when you look at the numbers:
AT&T - 500 Min, unlimited text, 3GB data = $109.99 per month plus taxes
Verizon Wireless - 450 Min, unlimited text, 2GB data = $89.99 per month plus taxes
T-Mobile - Unlimited everything = $89.99 per month plus taxes
Sprint - Unlimited everything = $109.99 per month plus taxes
Now with the plans above, users need to figure anywhere from 15-30% taxes on top of the rates that are quoted above. This means for your T-Mobile plan, you will be seeing a total bill of $107.99 if you are paying a 20% tax on that bill. That makes the 2 year cost of that plan nearly $2600 if you get the "free phone" and $2800 if you get the newest smartphone. That's the cheapest of the major plans out there today.
Going to the MVNO's and prepaid carriers, the numbers look a bit better, but are still very rough. Solavei simply wins this argument based on the fact that they offer 4GB of 4G data vs. the closest competitors 2.5GB. Most MVNO's are only offering 3G data at this point as well, which is another great reason for choosing Solavei over the others.
Let's look at a few plans quickly to see if there is a better value for those users that have already gone non-contract:
Red Pocket Mobile - Unlimited Min/Text + 1GB data = $54.99 per month
Simple Mobile - Unlimited Min/Text + 2GB data = $60.00 per month
Boost Mobile - Unlimited Min/Text + 2.5GB 4G data + throttled after = $55.00 per month
H2O Wireless - Unlimited Min/Text + 2GB data = $60.00 per month
So, looking at Solavei, with the newest HTC One S smartphone, your 2 year total, without any compensation figured in is $1705. There are MVNO plans that undercut this rate, like Boost Mobile where you can pick up a $300 HTC One V (the device below the One S) and run their shrinkage plan for a total of $1440 for 24 months, but the device you pick up for Boost will only work with Boost service. You can't take it with you to someone else if you decide the coverage isn't for you. Plus, if you purchase the ZTE Origin for Solavei, you cut $370 off that 24 month total and bring it below Boost's best offer by $105!
So, when that person comes to you and asks if they can really save with Solavei, there are some numbers to look at. Here are the average single line costs for a 24 month period, including the purchase of a new smartphone, with all of the carriers we listed, including taxes and fees.
AT&T (3GB LTE) - $3367
Verizon Wireless (2GB LTE) - $2791
T-Mobile (Unlimited HSPA+) - $2791
Sprint (Unlimited WiMAX/LTE) - $3367
Red Pocket Mobile (1GB 3G+) - $1769
Simple Mobile (1-2GB HSPA+) - $1840
Boost Mobile (2.5GB WiMAX/Unlimited 2G) - $1440 (with shrinkage for on-time payments)
H2O Wireless (2GB 3G+) - $1840
Solavei (4GB HSPA+/Unlimited 2G) - $1335
The savings are obvious when you look at the numbers. Now, share them with others so they can start saving like you today!
